In this collection, Indian rug-making intersects with British design intelligence in a hand-knotted collection of rugs made entirely to be lived with, specified, and remembered.

A rug is rarely the loudest element in a room. Yet the right one changes everything. For Luke Irwin, the rug has always been more than a surface. It is an architectural element in its own right; one that can alter the way a space is experienced.
THE COLLABORATION
One brings the eye. One brings the hand.
Over the years, Luke Irwin has built an archive of rugs for some of the world's most considered interiors, developing a language of colour, texture, scale and pattern along the way. In the same way, Obeetee has worked with Indian weaving communities, carrying forward the knowledge held in the loom, the knot and the hand.
Combined, the result is not a reproduction of an archive, nor a traditional Indian rug reinterpreted for the sake of it. It is a new language, created between two places.
CAPSULE I — AN INDIA STORY
Tiger heraldry, redrawn by a modern hand.
Facing tigers, potted palms and sun-discs emerge across fields of ochre, familiar without being literal, historical without being nostalgic. Designed to soften with age, not simply fade.
CAPSULE II — THE MARINE STORY
Coral. Current. Constellation.
The eye moves from land to water — rippling tide-lines, branching coral, shell-like forms and celestial points, in indigo, teal and bleached bone. Designed to give a room a current of its own.

The worn honesty of cloth, translated into pile.
The worn honesty of cloth, translated into pile. Washed indigo, rust and undyed stone drift across the surface like an over-dyed textile, fringe left visible. Quiet, tactile, and at home beside oak, linen and unlacquered brass.
CAPSULE IV — NEW MOSAIC & METALLURGY
Beauty in the fracture.
Beauty in the fracture. Stone, metal and patina — surfaces that appear weathered and reassembled, like marble veining or oxidised metal. Some restrained and atmospheric, others sculptural, with serpentine forms rising from the ground.
MATERIAL

A Luke Irwin design does not arrive at Benaras as a finished idea. It changes in the hands of the weaver. Colour deepens. Texture emerges. A line becomes a knot. A drawing becomes pile.
