The heart behind our craft

OUR PEOPLE, OUR PURPOSE

OUR INITIATIVES

For over a century, our community has been the heart of Obeetee.
The hands, the spirit, and the legacy behind every rug we make.

PROJECT MALA

We support the education of 460 children across 15 villages, opening new possibilities for their families. Over 3,500 children have enrolled with Project Mala in the last three decades. In the past five years alone, four students earned scholarships to study at Foremarke Hall, UK, while one bright mind is now pursuing an M.Sc. in Mathematics at IIT Kanpur.

Women Weavers Initiative

Launched in 2015, our Women’s Weavers initiative has trained over 1,200 women in rural Uttar Pradesh, equipping them with vocational skills and empowering them to rewrite their narratives. Today, 865 of them have turned weaving into a profession - their craft, your legacy.

Partnering with Pratham

After school program, Pratham, and Obeetee join forces to improve the learning outcomes of primary school children in the local community. Since FY 2015-16 , the team worked in about 118 schools, impacting the lives of 14,448 children. The program consists of a 40-day in school lessons and a community outreach program.

Ramakrishna Mission

Obeetee partnered with Ramakrishna Mission for medical camps in Bhadohi villages. Doctors checked 250-300 villagers, provided free prescriptions in 6 villages. Expansion plans in progress. Donated 1000 Steel Drums for water purification.

Gopepur Village

Obeetee has partnered with Sulabh International to build 125 toilets in the Gopepur village. Some of the toilets have been constructed in the homes of elderly women, in the schools and the homes of individual villagers. Apart from above 2 individual toilets in Tiwaripur village and 1 in Mahila Thana, Gyanpur, Bhadohi. We also believe that low-cost and self-sustaining electrification options can put in motion an entire socio-economic transformation of the community. To this end, Obeetee has installed 60 solar street lights in Gopepur along a one-kilometer stretch.
