A Hospitality Experience Rooted In Nature And Heritage
At Obeetee, our journey with hospitality projects has always extended beyond providing carpets—it is about deepening a space’s sensory memory through design that is intentional, cultural, and grounded in craftsmanship. Our collaboration with architect Shreenu Mukherjee on a 5,000-square-foot farmhouse in Delhi—now known as The Vrindavan Project—was a living testament to this philosophy.
Set amidst the farmlands of Delhi, the farmhouse was imagined as a holiday retreat—serene, self-contained, and embedded in the natural rhythm of its surroundings. What set this project apart for us was the sheer spirit of place: a home perched between farmland and forest, designed not just for comfort but for connection. Our role was to bring warmth, depth, and a sense of heritage to the interiors—layering each room with texture, history, and story through our carpets.
Design That Lives And Breathes
The farmhouse’s narrative was rooted in nostalgia and cultural memory—harking back to the Rajasthani roots of the homeowners while embracing the wild beauty of the Aravalli landscape. The design language called for materials that aged beautifully, palettes that changed with the light, and furnishings that felt at home in both the past and the present.
Obeetee’s handcrafted carpets were used strategically across key spaces to ground the visual language, offer tactile richness, and create warmth that anchors the eclectic mix of furniture, art, and architectural gestures.
In the ground-floor living room, often described as a jewel box of vintage treasures and eclectic furniture, an Obeetee carpet became the unifying thread that brought together multiple eras and aesthetics. With vibrant jewel tones underfoot, our design helped counterbalance the restraint of the neutral-toned furniture while allowing moments of maximalism—such as the Flor centre table and Heritage-style fans—to shine without overwhelming the space.
Elevating Lounges To Landmarks
On the first-floor lounge, a space the designers affectionately called the home’s “crown jewel,” the brief was different. This room opened out to views of a lush kitchen garden and dramatic sunsets. Here, our carpet sat beneath a Dune sofa and mid-century chairs, creating a quiet, plush base for an otherwise open and light-filled space. The carpet’s tone and weave were chosen not only to complement the furnishings but to subtly reflect the amber and ochre hues of the setting sun—an invisible dialogue between inside and outside.
In hospitality design, especially in standalone rentals or boutique homes, the line between indoor and outdoor must dissolve effortlessly. Across the verandahs, reading rooms, and circulation spaces of the Vrindavan farmhouse, Obeetee’s presence was always intentional—used where warmth was needed, but never overpowering. Our carpets became transitional elements, helping rooms feel grounded without compromising their relationship with the landscape.
A Hospitality Blueprint
From the floating bedroom suspended over the pool to the dramatic red reading room with its stone fireplace, each space in the farmhouse was designed to provoke a feeling—awe, comfort, nostalgia. For us, the project was not simply about supplying carpets but about enabling mood and memory.
This was a home where a weekend guest could feel like a longtime resident. And for that feeling to arise, every surface had to do its part. The carpets chosen from our hospitality collections were not only handwoven to suit the architecture and scale of the home but were also tailored to perform—to withstand footfall while maintaining an artisanal finish. We worked closely with the design team to ensure every piece contributed to the broader narrative.
Conclusion
The Vrindavan Project allowed Obeetee to do what we do best: bring soul to a space through craft. It is this kind of partnership—with architects and designers who care deeply about context and storytelling—that allows our work to shine. For us, a hospitality space is about making people feel truly at home, no matter where they are. Through thoughtful placement, custom tones, and handcrafted elegance, our carpets in this farmhouse became more than décor. They became keepers of comfort, carriers of culture, and silent hosts to every guest who crossed the threshold.
