The process-

Hand-tufting is a process done by a combination of manual labour and hand-operated machines/tools. The making, pile width, and the construction of a tufted rug are entirely different than a knotted one. Mainly crafted using wool, a tufted carpet is made on a stand, and the yarn is punched into a canvas using a tufting gun. The procedure is not as time-consuming a making a knotted carpet but does require a unique skill. Following this, the rug is taken off the frame and glued to an anti-skid backing to keep it intact. This provides the rug with a thick pile and enhanced durability. 

Below are a few additional things that you should know before purchasing a hand-tufted rug.

3.       Maintenance and care- In terms of maintenance, a hand-tufted rug is your best friend. Unlike hand-knotted rugs, a tufted rug cannot retain dust and debris between the knots. 5.       Excess wool shed- Shedding is one of the major drawbacks of a tufted rug. Unlike hand-knotted rugs, the yarn is inserted in a frame, and not tied together. This leads to excessive shedding. But once the fiber is settled, your space will be free of shedding.
