Design Journeys: A Tour of Obeetee’s Stores Across India
‘Ultimately, it's the destination that matters, not the journey. ’ Well, we beg to differ. If you are out on a trip like ours, you will too. What started as an initiative in 1920 to keep the magic of hand-made carpets alive today stands as one of the major businesses in the industry. Yes, for more than a century now, we at Obeetee have been crafting carpets by hand for the world. Evolving with time, recently we have entered the realm of home decor. In our collection, you will now find furniture accents, bed linens, and cushions, along with rugs.
Before COVID-19 shook the world, Obeetee was just into the manufacturing and export market. The year 2021 was the time when we realised that we should not just stick to ‘make in India’ but be in India. It was in the first year of the decade when we set up one of the pillars in the retail segment. The Obeetee flagship store in Delhi. The store not only did wonders for us but gave us a push start to reach where we are today. From just one store in 2021, we now have 7 retail experience centers spread across the major cities in the country, one in New York, and another one is coming very soon in London.
The Delhi Store- The 1st one in the line, the store lies at one of the high-end locations in the National capital. With such a strong presence on the MG road, the building is now a local landmark and goes by the name, The Obeeteee Building(Though we just have a floor). Designed by the firm Design 21, the store traditionally reflects modernism. From a detailed collection of carpets to cushions, furniture, and bed linens, the store has recently been renovated as per our rebranding of Obeetee Carpets to Obeetee Carpets and Homes.
The Mumbai Store- Located in Raghuvanshi Mills, Lower Parel, right in the middle of the city of dreams, the store is one of a kind. While the carpet collections and the interior enhance the visuals of the showroom, the store has a beautiful landscape full of greenery, making it look like you are entering a beautiful homestay in the hills to make a purchase.
The Hyderabad store- Opened in January 2023, this store is situated in the Jubilee Hills in the capital of Telangana. Featuring exquisite designs of carpets, the store provides customers with a luxurious experience. In terms of size, this is our biggest store to date and not because of the property’s availability, but to blend in with the city of Nawabs. A duplex, the store has different segments, each dedicated to a separate category.
The Kolkata Studio- Yes, it is actually a design studio. A place designed to host clients and architects and give them a familiar and comfortable environment. With a bespoke collection of rugs and cushions, the store will soon be equipped with our home offerings. Opened in February 2023, the store, designed by Design 2,1, perfectly blends with the colonial zeal of Kolkata.
The Pune store- Just like all of our stores, this studio too is located in the heart of Pune city. A cozy and defined place, Design 21 has really added life to our presence there. The detailed carpet collection, complemented by the right furniture accents, gives the customer a choice. A choice to transform his/her home into an Obeetee Home. The staff in this store is friendly and provides you with a top-notch shopping experience.
The Bangalore store- Earlier in the year, our Bangalore event was a shop-in-shop in the MIMI Homes store. Today, we have a 3000 sqft store located on the 100-foot road that was inaugurated at the start of August. Again, designed by the professionals at Design 21, the store effortlessly fits in the city yet stands out(with the big LED wall). An entire segment of the store is nothing but a glass pane, making you feel you are on the foothills while making a purchase.
Ahmedabad Store- The Shivarth complex in the heart of Ahmedabad now gives residence to an Obeetee experience center in the west. Our very 1st store in that part of the country, this is indeed a unique one. The modern appeal hidden in the traditionalism of the rugs not only makes the store inviting but makes the customers feel that they are in the very hub of carpet making. The store was officially opened this July.
