Aagman - The Arrival of Abundance

"Aagman" is a word of Hindi and Sanskrit origin, meaning "arrival," "welcome," or "the process of coming."

In Indian culture, guests are considered equivalent to god. Thus, anyone’s Aagman is embraced with enthusiasm and respect. The relevance of this word during Diwali has three reasons behind it. People not only celebrate the Aagman of Lord Rama from his 14-year exile, after killing Ravana, but also they the Aagman of the goddess Luxmi, who brings along blessings, growth, and abundance. And, of course, to celebrate the festive season, many guests often visit to exchange gifts and well-wishes.

To showcase this enthusiasm, everyone brings out their A game. On the outside, the main door is decorated with flowers and lights. A beautiful Rangoli covers the empty veranda, not only to make the space look beautiful but to make the guests feel special. Similarly, the interiors go through a deep clean. The old curtains are replaced with new ones, and the cutlery that you, as a child, have always dreamed of using is taken out from the shelf. From fresh flowers in new vases to new bed linens and cushion covers, the entire interior is rejuvenated to make the guests feel at home. One thing that is often missed is the rug(if there is one in the house). It's not news that rugs can be expensive; replacing them every season might take a toll on your pocket. However, it's Diwali. There is always room for something extra. What we suggest is that you keep an alternate option that you can solely roll out during the festive season.

Aagman - The Arrival of Abundance

Since we are talking about traditions, we’d like to suggest a few collections from our catalog that you can choose from. One thing that we Indians are proud of is our culture. We at Obeetee not only respect it but also make sure that every product from our house reflects that. Yes, the art of hand-making does it; we also try to incorporate it in the design. In collaboration with multiple designers across the country, we have launched a unique designer carpet collection under our ‘Proud to be India campaign’. Each of these designers not only brings a unique Indian touch to the carpet canvas but also pours their emotions and culture. If once such a piece is rolled out in your house, you will be embracing the AAGMAN of traditions, cultures, and heritage along with the emotions and thoughts of the designer, making it even more special. Moreover, with such a beautiful canvas, a designer piece would be the only thing you’d need to prepare your home for the arrival of Goddess Luxmi.

The collaboration with JJ Valaya brings the beauty of Kasmir on the carpet canvas. Inspired by the Jamawar shawl weaving technique, our skilled artisans have passionately crafted the rugs in the collection. The collaboration with Tarun Tahiliani is indeed a special one. With his love for Lucknow’s Chikankari, miniature paintings, and abstract art, he literally brought a part of India alive through our rugs. If you are updated with our catalog, you’ll notice Viraasat. Another one of our designer collections that actually has the designers’ Viraasat and ours. Handknotted, these rugs will be much more than a floor covering, but a piece of art inside your home. While we can go on and on about these collections, it would be better if you visit our website for a better view- https://www.obeetee.in. For more information, you can visit our flagship stores spread across the country in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Pune, and Bangalore.

Please note- We are in the last leg of our sale- The Obeetee Rug Carnival. Make sure to grab a rug and light up your home this Diwali with traditions and culture, knotted for you.
