A special day for a special person- Happy Mother’s Day

Whether you are hurt, or just hungry, the person you resort to for comfort in any situation is our mother. From the moment we’re born, our mothers wrap us up in a cocoon of warmth and love, and as we grow, they guide us along the path of life, providing support and comfort every step of the way. As we take a moment to reflect on the love and sacrifice our moms have made, it’s important to remember the ways in which they have woven themselves into our lives.

A special day

When we think of Mother's Day, we often think of buying flowers or gifts for our moms to show them how much we love and appreciate them. While this is a beautiful gesture, it's important to remember that we should be making our mothers feel special every day, not just on one designated day of the year. After all, our mothers are the ones who have been there for us since day one, who have loved us unconditionally, and who have shaped us into the people we are today. So this Mother’s day, let us make little changes to appreciate our mothers a bit more every day.

Spend quality time with her

One of the best ways to make your mother feel special is to simply spend quality time with her. This could mean going out to lunch or dinner, taking a walk together, or just sitting down and having a cup of tea. Whatever you do, make sure you're fully present and engaged in the moment. Put your phone away, listen to her stories, and ask her questions about her life. Showing an interest in her and her experiences will make her feel loved and appreciated.

Help her with tasks

Your mother has likely spent a good portion of her life taking care of you and your family. Now, it's your turn to give back. Offer to help her with tasks around the house, such as cooking dinner, doing the laundry, or running errands. By taking some of the load off her shoulders, you're showing her that you care and that you're there for her when she needs it.

Give her a break

If your mother works full-time or takes care of other family members, she may need a break from time to time. Offer to take over some of her responsibilities for a day or two. Let her relax and do something she enjoys, whether it's reading a book, taking a nap, or going out with friends. This will give her a much-needed break and show her that you understand how hard she works.

Plan a surprise

As selfless as a mother is, she might tell you that she doesn’t need anything from you. However, a surprise can instantly make her feel like the queen that she is. Plan something unexpected, like a surprise visit or a special outing. It could be something as simple as taking her out for ice cream or as elaborate as planning a weekend getaway. The key is to make it something that she will enjoy and that will show her how much you care.

Listen to her

Sometimes, all your mother needs is someone to listen to her. Make a point to really listen to her when she talks. Ask her questions, show interest in what she has to say, and be empathetic when she shares her worries or concerns. By being a good listener, you're showing her that you care about her feelings and that you're there to support her.

Share memories with her

Take some time to look through old photo albums or home movies with your mother. Reminisce about the past and share memories with her. This will not only bring you closer together, but it will also make her feel special and appreciated. It's a great way to show her that you value the time you've spent together and the memories you've made.

Cook her favourite meal

Cooking your mother's favourite meal is a great way to show her that you care. It doesn't have to be anything fancy or complicated. Just take the time to prepare something that you know she lovesand enjoy it together. It could be a simple breakfast in bed or a homemade dinner. The effort and thought you put into making her favourite meal will make her feel special and loved.

Celebrate her achievements

Whether it's a big promotion at work or a personal achievement, celebrate your mother's successes with her. Take her out for a special dinner or buy her a small gift to show your support and congratulations. By celebrating her achievements, you're showing her that you're proud of her and that you're there to support her no matter what.

Show affection

Finally, don't forget to show your mother affection. Give her hugs, tell her you love her, and show her physical gestures of love and care. It's easy to get caught up in our busy lives and forget to show the important people in our lives how much we care. By showing affection to your mother, you're reminding her how much she means to you and how much you love her.

There are many ways to make your mother feel special every day, not just on Mother's Day. By spending quality time with her, expressing gratitude, helping her with tasks, giving her a break, planning surprises, listening to her, sharing memories, cooking her favourite meal, celebrating her achievements, and showing affection, you're showing your mother that you love and appreciate her. Remember, our mothers have given us so much over the years, it's important to show them how much we care and love them in return.
